SOMETHING TO SMILE ABOUT
“If you’re reading this...
Congratulations, you’re alive.
If that’s not something to smile about
Then I don’t know what is.”
Chad Sugg
Remember Chad’s quote as you begin each new day. I am happy to share what makes me smile daily-the knowledge I have made a plan to fully complete our Last Gift Box by June 10, 2018. Bob and I are like the cobbler whose children have no shoes. We have begun and completed chapters of our Gift but there are major gaps, sections that we have not begun. We leave on a magical trip with our oldest granddaughters in June, thus the deadline. I like that.
The first STUFF workshop was held last week and at the end the participants and I signed a contract agreement to be accountable to each other monthly. They are to email me with what section they have completed based on the workshop outline. Organized the bedroom closet? The kitchen drawers? The sporting equipment in the garage? Finding their Last Gift Box guidebook?
We will celebrate our completed GIFTS January 1,2019!
I challenge all of you too. And want to share with you ideas how to begin. Organize the kitchen drawers. Get rid of the 4 extra potato peelers you have. Take photos of the contents of each room of your home including inside cupboards, drawers, cabinets, closets. Share the photos with your family and those who are involved with your estate. Ask them what they would like. Make your list of who gets what. In the workshop we discussed the numerous steps involved in this process. You can begin.
I suggest finding a partner - not your best friend or children - to help you sort and organize. Someone who will be honest about that sweater from 1983 and knows it will never come back in style.
Go through each room organizing - keep, Gift, donate, not sure.
Create a time line when you will work on this.
One day a week? A weekend a month? A week a month?
Send me a copy of your plan. I’m the keeper of agreements and will support you as you complete your GIFT. I’m available to answer your questions. I’m available to share ideas and techniques. I am planning another STUFF workshop for May.
Smile. You are alive.
