IT'S THE SECRET OF GETTING STARTED

A painter faces the empty canvas. A cook, the bottom of the pot. A writer, a blank page. You a blank face staring back at you.

It’s always about how to begin. I suggest open your mouth and your heart. You can do this. Remember those chats about dating, sex, cars, careers. This is more definite.

“I want to talk with you about my ideas for my future. This is difficult for both of us. But not impossible. Consider it an adventure and we’re planning the itinerary – tickets- where to stay – what to visit. Get ready. No refund policy here.

Once begun, you converse. Ask your children, your friend, your partner, for their ideas. What do they think of your plans? And LISTEN. Don’t expect one conversation to complete the itinerary. And don’t get to detailed at the beginning. Set another date and both of you write it on the calendar (if you are old school) or type it into your phone.

You’ve now begun.

“Man is an over complicated organism.

If he is doomed to extinction he will die out for want of simplicity” Ezra Pound
