The Man of 9 Lives

Our life at the moment is not necessarily what we both envisioned when we said “for better or worse” those many years ago, but it is the reality of our days today.

With Bob’s next medical procedure scheduled for Sept. 17 (doctors schedule then tell you to show up even if it is inconvenient for you), I have to postpone the Adult Child and Parent - SPEAK YOUR TRUTH- workshop scheduled for September 21 at Newman Hall in Berkeley. In case you missed the earlier announcement, this newest workshop focuses on how to answer the hard questions and how to have the challenging conversations.

Examples:

PARENTS——-

WHAT DO YOU WANT YOUR CHILDREN TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR DECISIONS TO DOWN SIZE?

HOW DO YOU DISCUSS WHO GETS WHAT TREASURES?

DO THEY KNOW YOUR MEDICAL WISHES?

HOW YOU WANT TO DIE AND BE REMEMBERED?

CHILDREN——

WHAT DO YOU WANT YOUR PARENTS TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR WORRIES?

HOW DO YOU MAKE SURE THEY ARE SAFE?

DO YOU KNOW IF THEIR PAPERS ARE IN ORDER?

DO YOU KNOW WHAT THEY WANT IF THEY GET SICK?

HOW DO YOU ASK WHAT THEY WANT TO DO WITH THEIR HOUSE FULL OF “STUFF”?

I created this workshop because at every workshop I lead - The Introduction to The Last Gift Box, The Stuff, The Obituary - both young (40-50’s) and older (60-70-80-90’s) say the same thing. We want to have THE conversation with our parents. With our kids. BUT they won’t talk about THIS. (this being planning for life’s challenges, ends, down sizing, moving on.)

We can all support each other as we journey through the minefields of heart held truths.

I am excited and motivated to lead this workshop

AND I WILL

Just not Sept. 21.

It will be held January 11, 2020, the Saturday after the celebration of the Epiphany, the day the Magi delivered their gifts to the new born babe. So, we will deliver our gifts to our children and children to their parents in the form of words that day.

Same place, Newman Center on the corner of Dwight Way and College Ave in Berkeley. If you know you want to attend you can secure your spot now and I will hold it for you.

There are only 28 spots available. Get out that 2020 calendar and mark it down! January 11.

How Do We Tell Mom and Dad?

What Will We Tell the Kids?

The man of 9 lives and I have had many of these conversations together and a sampling with our adult children. No one said it would be easy, but we are in this “for better or worse” and we know the worse. We look forward to sharing our experiences and insights with you January 11.
